New Year’s Memoir – 2024 Edition

October

My mom came to Vilnius again. We had fun studying with Ilmėja how to overcome our legacies 😎. Along with checking out the photography scene, artsy cafes, and they indulged in some watercolors.

Looking for activities to do together, I suggested the Vilnius Museum of Illusions. I was concerned it’d be a bit scammy and corny, yet was pleasantly surprised. It was tons of fun and good for artistic photo-shoots. Lo and behold, we can stand on the ceiling! The various kaleidoscopic views are quite fun for the family 🙂.

Casa La Familia deserves special mention as a cozy pizzeria with a family play area, which makes going out with a 5 year-old relaxed and exciting compared to restaurants where one is confined to the table. Three cheers 👏.

Back in Prague just in time for another Infected Mushroom concert, this time at Roxy. But first, Anna invited me to a concert with Thannos a at cute vintage store, Kukmál Hilda. I especially liked the song, Oh Boy, and back-to-back social events can be great: the first one should be more social before heading to the larger party venue.

Infected Mushroom was good and we almost got a psychedelic moshpit going. The venue was closer to dead before and after their set, however, so the overall setup was sub-par. Roxy is a quasi-historic ‘mainstream’-leaning club that could use some work, in my opinion. They don’t allow re-entry and have no areas with fresh air inside. Moreover, the places that could be good for chilling and talking in between bouts of dancing are too loud. I hope they figure something out if especially good musicians will occasionally show up there 🙏🤓.

The next week a friend invited me to her costume birthday party — I got to be some sort of cat-bear-faerie 🧚.

Before yet another pre-booked event at Roxy: Black Sun Empire. This time the DJs before and after were also pretty good. Overall, the atmosphere seemed to suit DnB more than psytrance. Yay :- ).

Prague also has some weirdly cute 80’s disco bars, if that’s your thing. It was better than I’d expected, given it’s not mine :D.

And then came a sudden call for magic time before an event I booked back in September: Captain Hook in Berlin. We find these “Love is . . .” bubble gum wrappers quite cute.

Wow, this event cemented Captain Hook as being extra special for me. Even here, I started to shift into a weird hazy trance dance state very shortly after the set began. The other psytrance DJs’ sets don’t really do this to me. I recall more o f the set, yet it’s definitely weird good and wasn’t just “that time at Ozora”.

During the magical voyage, we did a tarot reading for my love life and the devil card came up. So shortly after partying with a bunch of sexy devils was quite a funny twist of fate 😜. Fortunately, some of them shared my enthusiasm and we had quite a fun time dancing together and cruising around ~ 🕺💃. I’m very grateful to everyone else who showed up in friendly, pro-social, loving vibes and for socially developing into someone who is likely to reach out to people to connect 🙂.

Traveling to nearby cities for DJs, parties, and concerts can be worth it! :D
